I haven't done the trip but I have read that there are 2 dog problems: 1080 poison baits are used in many places along the track, and some of the stations do not welcome dogs.

We met travellers with their furry family. 1080 is about but if you enter or exit the CSR at well 5 there won't be any stations.

Just a "Heads Up"
It is not only "Stations" that lay 1080 baits. Large areas of crown lands are also baited from the air.

G'day hydeaway

Depending on your dog and your attitude regarding the dog, there should not be any real problems with taking it with you, as long as you are prepared to look after the dog.

But as the previous replier stated there are 1080 baits throughout the Pastoral lands as wild dog and domestic dog control is taken very seriously ~ these 1080 baits do not discriminate ~ they simply work very effectively.

You will also need to consider the fact that all "grasses" carry the Kangaroo tick which is not only a problem for the dog, but also for you, should one be picked up walking through grass.

You may take your dog anywhere you liked except for silly National Parks

As mentioned above...take care of your dog and you should have no hassles

Hi

Have just got back home from doing it with our Dog. Yes you can do it. From well 1 to 9 it goes through pastoral land and signage indicates that 1080 is used as well as high powered rifles for vermin control.
There are new signs around durba springs inidcating that 1080 is used.

The northern pastoral sections dont indicate if baits are used.

What hasn't been mentioned by others is that there are dingo's and other wild dogs out there so you will need to watch your dog.

If you watch your dog, and in bait areas keep it on a leash (we also carry a muzzle as added insurance) you should be alright.
